Cloud Atlas is a gallant attempt to follow the lives of a group of characters across time and space. It is trying to show a lot and say a lot in one movie and almost succeeds! I wonder if it would have been better served as a series of films. Lana and Andy Wachowski with Tom Tykwer directs. It is a star studded cast with Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Bae Doona, Ben Whishaw, and James D’Arcy.

Because so much is being said in so short of time the story telling gets choppy, however if you allow yourself to fall into the journey you can figure out some of the plot points later. Roxana and I were talking about it for days as certain scenes or symbolism became clear in our heads. Flaws aside it is worth seeing for its breadth and scope, and parts of it are absolutely beautiful in its visual execution. You definitely want to see this on a big screen. An extra bit I noticed was that many of the editing transitions are very clever throughout the film.
