Comic Con Highlights
Here are highlights from the largest event for popular art culture in America. This years San Diego Comic Con was another crazed adventure.
The event is always a circus front and center and everyone is part of the show.
The Cosplay gets more sophisticated year by year.
Characters range from Miss Kitty to Penthouse Playmate Vampires and everything in between.
Eccentric.
Fun.
Never a dull moment.
SteamCrow mascot.
Robots.
More robots.
WETA creation for the Hobbit.
More cute heroins.
And even costumed gentlemen.
Love this little figure from Ragnar’s collection.
Who are these homeless looking people sleeping on the ground in front of the convention center?
Hundreds of fans stake out a spot around the convention center overnight waiting to get into the event first thing in the morning.
Talk about fan mania!
Many wanted to get into the Grant Morrison talk with Gotham Chopra and Sharad Devarajan of Liquid Comics/Studios which was awesome.
I moderated a panel called, Artist As Brand: Rise of the Artist Entrepreneur with Stephan Martiniere, Donato Giancola, Alfred Paredes, Daniel and Dawna Davis of Steam Crow. About 150 artists attended to learn about art career sustainability.
My humble set up in Artist Alley.
Where I quietly painted behind the table.
deviantART showcased some of my art on large digital screens for all to see. That was exciting too. Overall the event is an investment in my art business and catching up with other artist friends. It is a lot of work beforehand and it takes me at least a week to recover. I will return next year. It will be an extra special Con as my book will be launched there! Stay tuned.
